Tau proteins are proteins that stabilize microtubules by interacting with tubulin. They are abundant in neurons in the central nervous system and are less common elsewhere. When tau proteins are defective and no longer stabilize microtubules properly, this can result in dementias, such as Alzheimer's disease.
This product reacts with Tau in both the phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated form. It does not react with other microtubule associated proteins or tubulin.
This antibody recognizes an epitope between amino acids 95 - 108 of bovine Tau.
Store at -20 °C only.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 18 months after receipt.
