The Immunogen was a recombinant protein of human IL-6 (rIL-6) expressed in E. coli. This antibody was produced from a hybrid myeloma/spleen cells immunized with rIL-6 protein. The IgG fraction was purified from cell culture supernatant by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Product is supplied as a powder obtained from lyophilization of purified antibody in PBS without preservatives. Reconstitute the antibody with sterile 1x PBS to a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation of various tissues, and plays an important role in the immune response and acute phase reactions. IL-6 acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate immune response, e.g., during infection and after trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading to inflammation. IL-6's role as an anti-inflammatory cytokine is mediated through its inhibitory effects on TNF-alpha and IL-1, and activation of IL-1ra and IL-10.
This antibody was selected for its ability to bind to human IL-6. This antibody reacts with Mouse, Rat, Human and Porcine IL-6.
Store at 4°C if intended for use within one month, otherwise, store at -20°C to -80°C. The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 18 months after the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -80°C. After reconstitution, it can be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C in a manual defrost freezer for at least 6 months without detectable loss of activity. Upon reconstitution, the antibody can also be stored for 1 month at 4°C. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles, as this will lower the activity of the antibody.
