This product specifically recognizes amino acids 100-104 of the extracellular domain of prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA), otherwise known as GCPII (glutamate carboxypeptidase II), a 95-110kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein and member of the peptidase M28 family.
Nomenclature for GCPII is dependent upon tissue specificity. PSMA is assigned to GCPII of prostate origin which is up-regulated in prostate cancer and a reliable diagnostic marker. Folate hydrolase (FOLH1) describes GCPII in the intestine and is required for folate uptake, whilst NAALADase refers to GCPII expressed in the central nervous system, which acts to cleave N-acetylaspartylglutamate (NAAG) to release glutamate, implicated in pathological conditions including Alzheimer's and Huntington's disease.
Store at +4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 18 months after receipt.
