Target Background

Interleukin 6 (IL-6) is a pleiotropic cytokine that regulates cell growth and differentiation of various tissues, and plays an important role in the immune response and acute phase reactions. IL-6 acts as both a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine. It is secreted by T cells and macrophages to stimulate an immune response, e.g., during infection and after trauma, especially burns or other tissue damage leading to inflammation. IL-6's role as an anti-inflammatory cytokine is mediated through its inhibitory effects on TNF-α and IL-1, and activation of IL-1Rα and IL-10.

Very simple kit to use, tricky with mouse plasma samples though

Elisa Mouse IL-6, I tested some plasma samples, and I was not able to detect any IL-6 even after incubating overnight at 4C

University of Michigan
I used this kit to quantify IL-6 levels in whole brain lysates. Protocol is clear and easy, the assay works well

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
I analyzed mouse plasma and brain tissue with this ELISA. The directions were clear and easy to follow. No problems were noted. Would use again!

University of Mary Washington
I have used this Elisa kit, its quite affordable considering the amount of time saved and data generated from it. I have even compared IL-6 ELISA data to IL-6 luminex data (from the same samples) and they are relatively similar.

I used this kit with LPS-inflammed RAW264.7 cells supernatants. It was very sensitive! The instructions were clear and detailed and the kit well assembled. I also liked that you can use just half a plate and keep the other strips for another time. I would strongly recommend.

University of Arkansas
I used this ELISA kit to measure IL-6 in mouse serum. While this was not the easiest ELISA to perform, the instructions were simple enough to follow.

Emory University
Protocol was very easy to follow and very reliable. Cost effective kit!

I tested mouse serum. I did not measure any signals.

The kit was packaged in an organized and clear manner, and it was easy to walk through each step of the procedure. I used the mouse IL-6, VEGF, and TNF-alpha kits for plasma as well as homogenized muscle samples. Each worked well, and I would be happy to use them again.

Houston Methodist Research Institute
I used this kit to analyze mouse serum samples and it did exactly what it is supposed to do. I highly recommend this product!
