This product specifically recognizes human defensin beta 3 (BD-3), a cationic non-hemolytic antimicrobial peptide and member of the beta-defensin family, highly expressed by skin and tonsils, which plays an important role in the innate immune response to potentially pathogenic microbes, including multiresistant S. aureus and vancomycin-resistant E. faecium.

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.

Antiserum to human defensin beta 3 was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
