Immunogen was a synthetic peptide derived from Human Inhibin A Alpha. This antibody was produced from a rabbit immunized with the immunogen. The IgG fraction will be purified from rabbit serum by ammonium sulphate precipitation followed by Protein A/G affinity chromatography.
A separate vial of dilution buffer is provided for reconstitution. The antibody is supplied lyophilized, originally containing PBS, without preservative stabilizers (e.g. sodium azide). The final amount is indicated on the shipping vial.
Inhibins are dimeric peptide hormones produced by female ovarian granulose cells and male Sertoli cells as well as a variety of other tissues. Inhibins have two isoforms, A and B, with the same alpha subunit but different beta subunits. Inhibin A is a dimer of alpha and beta A subunits, inhibin B is a dimer of alpha and beta B subunits.
Inhibins can inhibit the production of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary gland. In addition, Inhibins also play a role in the control of gametogenesis, and embryonic and fetal development.
The antibody is stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody can also be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
The antibody detects the synthetic peptide immunogen. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat Inhibin A alpha is expected due to sequence similiarity.
