Immunogen was synthetic peptide derived from Human Omentin. This antibody was produced from a rabbit immunized with the immunogen. The IgG fraction was purified from rabbitt serum by ammonium sulphate precipitation followed by Protein A/G affinity chromatography.
A separate vial of dilution buffer is provided for reconstitution. The antibody is supplied lyophilized, originally containing PBS, without preservative stabilizers (e.g. sodium azide). The final amount is indicated on the shipping vial.
General Description Omentin, also known as intelectin 1, is a calcium-dependent lectin with affinity for furanosides, such as galactofuranosyl in bacterial arabinogalactans. 30kD of apparent molecular weight of Omentin migrate at 40-kD under reducing conditions due to glycosylation . Omentin, a novel visceral fat depot-specific secretory protein, enhance insulin-stimulated glucose transport in subcutaneous as well as omental adipocytes and may therefore be implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity. Omentin is a visceral fat depot-specific secretory protein. Omentin mRNA is expressed predominantly in visceral adipose tissue and is barely detectable in subcutaneous fat depots in humans and rhesus monkeys. Omentin mRNA is expressed in stromal vascular cells, but not fat cells. Omentin does not affect basal but enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in human adipocytes.
The antibody is stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody can also be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
The rabbit anti-human Omentin antibody detects specifically target derived from human recombinant protein as well as cell lysates of HEK-293T cells transfected with omentin DNA at various concentrations. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat are expected from sequence similarity.
