Preparation:
Antisera to human PPAR alpha were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.

This product detects a band of approximately 52kDa in 3T3 whole cell lysate.
Specificity
This product detects an epitope within the N-terminal region of human peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor, alpha (PPARA), a member of the nuclear hormone receptor subfamily. Upon activation, PPARA forms heterodimers with retinoid X receptors (RXRs), and functions to regulate transcription of specific gene sequences. In particular, PPARA controls genes involved in the peroxisomal and mitochondrial beta oxidation pathways, fatty acid uptake, and triglyceride catabolism in the liver and skeletal muscle.
PPARA also has anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative effects and prevents the proatherogenic effects of cholesterol accumulation in macrophages by stimulating cholesterol efflux.
PPARA is the main target of fibrate drugs; hypolipidemic agents used in the treatment of dyslipidemia and the prevention of cardiovascular disease. They could also be used for the treatment of type II diabetes.

Storage/Stability
Store at +4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 18 months after receipt.
