This product recognizes presenilin-1 (PSEN1), an integral membrane protein that is widely expressed, especially in brain tissue.
PSEN1 is an essential component of the gamma-secretase complex, along with APH-1 (APH-1A or APH-1B), PSEN2, Pen-2 (PEN2), and nicastrin (NCSTN). This endoprotease complex plays a vital role in the evolutionarily conserved Notch signaling pathway, by catalyzing the intramembrane S3 cleavage of ligand-activated Notch receptor proteins (Notch1-4), resulting in the generation and release of an activated NICD fragment, which then translocates to the nucleus and activates the transcription of downstream effector genes.
Mutations of presenilin-1 are associated with early onset Alzheimer's disease.
Store at +4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred.
This product should be stored undiluted.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 18 months after receipt.
