This product recognizes M. pneumoniae, a bacterium which is distinguished phenotypically from other bacteria by lacking a peptidoglycan cell wall.
M. pneumoniae is exclusively a human pathogen, and primarily attaches to mucosa in the upper and lower respiratory tract. It is transmitted by respiratory droplets, and infection can cause bronchial asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.
Central nervous system (CNS) manifestations are the most frequent extrapulmonary complications, and include encephalitis, aseptic meningitis, cerebellar ataxia, and myelitis.
This product has not been cross absorbed and may react with related microorganisms.
Store at +4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred.
Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 18 months after receipt.
