Antigen Information

Protein Name & Synonyms:
Tryptophan Hydroxylase
Target Species:
  • Human

Antibody Specifications

Applications:
Immunohistology - Frozen, Western Blotting
Preparation:
Antisera to tryptophan hydroxylase were raised by repeated immunisations of sheep with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Species Reactivity:
Human and rabbit

This product detects a band of approximately 55kDa in human dorsal Raphe nucleus lysates.

Specificity

This product recognizes Tryptophan Hydroxylase (TPH) which catalyses the 5-hydroxylation of tryptophan, in the first stage of indoleamine biosynthesis. Serotonin biosynthesis occurs principally in neurons which originate in the raphe nucleus of the brain, and melatonin synthesis takes place within the pineal gland.

Storage/Stability

Store at +4 °C or at -20 °C if preferred.

Storage in frost-free freezers is not recommended.
This product should be stored undiluted. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody. Should this product contain a precipitate we recommend microcentrifugation before use.
If stored in this manner, this product is stable for 12 months after receipt.
