β2M is a non polymorphic protein with an Ig-like domain. It serves as the light chain in MHC Class I molecules, and is accociated with all classical MHC class I heavy chains. As with MHC class I, β2M is expressed on all nucleated cells except for neurons. β2M tends to be overexpressed in multiple myeloma and lymphoma, as well as in several other types of cancers, so it can be used as a marker for these diseases.

Each lot of antibody has been tested by flow cytometry staining. Researchers are recommended to further titrate this antibody at the optimal concentration for each specific application.
