CD154 is ligand of CD40, also named as CD40L, is a 32-39 kD type II transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the TNF superfamily mainly expressed on activated T cells. CD40L binds CD40 on antigen presenting cells and enhances their activation, maturation and role for co-stimulation. CD40L is particularly important on a subset of T cells called T follicular helper cells (TFH cells). CD40L on TFH cell binds CD40 on B cell to induce its differentiation, isotype class-switching and protects B cells from apoptosis.

Each lot of antibody has been tested by flow cytometry staining. Researchers are recommended to further titrate this antibody at the optimal concentration for each specific application.
