Description

CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4), also known as T4/Leu-3, is a 55 kDa glycoprotein. It is a member of the Ig superfamily, primarily expressed on T helper cells, monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells and some thymocytes (CD4+CD8+ and CD4+CD8‚¬€œ thymocytes). CD4 acts as a coreceptor with the TCR during T cell activation and thymic differentiation by binding MHC class II and associating with the protein tyrosine kinase, lck. HIV-1 gp120 protein binds CD4 to enter host T-cells, allowing HIV-1 to bind a co-receptor CCR5 or CXCR4 and fuse the outer membrane of the virus with the host cell membrane.

Recommended Usage

Each lot of antibody has been tested by flow cytometry staining. We suggest use ≤ 0.5 µg per million cells in 100 µl volume of staining buffer. Researchers are recommended to further titrate this antibody at the optimal concentration for each specific application.

Storage / Stability

Keep the lyophilized antibodies at -20 °C. Once reconstituted with PBS, store at 2 °C - 8 °C for less than 3 weeks or freeze at -20°C for long term storage. Please limit freeze and thaw cycles.
