CD45, also known as protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type C (PTPRC), is a 180 - 240 kDa single chain type I membrane glycoprotein. CD45 is expressed on the plasma membrane of all hematopoietic cells, except erythrocytes or platelets, making it also known as leukocyte common antigen (LCA). CD45 is a signaling molecule that regulates a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, cell cycle, and oncogenic transformation. CD45 plays a critical role in T and B cell antigen receptor-mediated activation by dephosphorylating substrates including p56Lck, p59Fyn, and other Src family kinases. CD45 has various isoforms based on gene splicing of its three exons RA, RB and RC: CD45RA, CD45RB, CD45RC, CD45RAB, CD45RAC, CD45RBC, CD45R0, CD45R (ABC). This antibody directs to a reserved region, recognizes all different isoforms of CD45 and is often used to discriminate leukocytes from other cell types.

Each lot of antibody has been tested by flow cytometry staining. Researchers are recommended to further titrate this antibody at the optimal concentration for each specific application.
