CD71 is a type II homodimeric transmembrane glycoprotein which is expressed on proliferating cells, reticulocytes, and erythroid precursors. CD71 is related to iron uptake with ferrotransferrin binding as well as aiding in the recycling of apotransferrin to the cell surface
