Drosophila has a similar signaling system as other species do. The system consists of neurons expressing neuropeptide F (NPF) and its receptor, NPFR. NPF has high homology with mammalian neuropeptide Y. The NPF neural system is comprised of four to six NPF neurons located in the brain and subesophageal ganglia. In response to chemosensory stimulation by sugar, the NPF neuronal circuit undergoes long-term, dose-dependent modifications through NPF activation and an increase in the number of NPF -positive varicosities. These properties of the NPF neurons support its potential role in the regulation of food-related behaviors.
The receptor belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily. To date, some forty GPCRs are categorized as neuropeptide GPCRs in Drosophila, and about two-thirds of these receptors have been “deorphanized”.

The antibody is stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody can also be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

The rabbit anti-Drosophila Neuropeptide F antibody shows strong binding to the synthetic immunogen. Its binding activity to native protein or cross reactivity with the protein derived from other species was not tested.
