General Description Omentin, also known as intelectin 1, is a calcium-dependent lectin with affinity forfuranosides, such as galactofuranosyl in bacterial arabinogalactans. 30kD of apparent molecular weightof Omentin migrate at 40-kD under reducing conditions due to glycosylation . Omentin, a novel visceralfat depot-specific secretory protein, enhance insulin-stimulated glucose transport in subcutaneous aswell as omental adipocytes and may therefore be implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity. Omentin is avisceral fat depot-specific secretory protein. Omentin mRNA is expressed predominantly in visceraladipose tissue and is barely detectable in subcutaneous fat depots in humans and rhesus monkeys.Omentin mRNA is expressed in stromal vascular cells, but not fat cells. Omentin does not affect basalbut enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in human adipocytes.

This antibody binds to its immunogen, and did not show any cross reactivity with unrelated antigens in ELISA. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat Omentin has not been tested yet.

Store at 4°C if intended for use within one month, otherwise, store at -20°C to -80°C. The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 18 months after the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -80°C. After reconstitution, it can be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -80°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity.
