In January 2021, tyrosine protein kinase receptor UFO (AXL) was demonstrated to promote SARS-CoV-2 infection by binding to the N-terminus of the S protein [Wang et al. Cell research (2021): 1-15]. Overexpression of the receptor increased infectivity in cell culture, whereas knocking the receptor out decreased infectivity. The addition of the receptor’s agonist, AXL, also inhibited viral entry.
The RayBio COVID-19 Spike-AXL Binding Assay is a rapid, simple method to characterize the binding affinity of the S-AXL complex in the presence of potential inhibitors. The researcher can use the kit to screen various inhibitor types, including small molecules, peptides, antibodies, and patient serum for neutralizing activity against SARS-CoV-2.
The kit may be stored at 4°C up to 1 month from the date of shipment. The life of the kit can be extended up to 6 months from the date of shipment by storing the kit reagents (Item F, C, and D) at -20°C. All other components should be stored at 4°C.

COVID-19 Spike-AXL Binding Assay Kit
This is a very usual and unique kit that allows to study the binding between the spike protein and AXL. This kit uses the spike protein antibody for detection. The kit works well. I look forward to the development of an additional kit that uses the tagged-spike protein and the antibody against the tag that would allow to ask different questions.
