Optimally infected cells are harvested, disrupted by sonication in culture medium and subjected to low speed centrifugation. The supernatant from the infected culture is concentrated by crossflow ultrafiltration.
The antigen preparation is inactivated using gamma radiation, which primarily damages viral genetic material.
