Neurokinin A is a member of the tachykinin family of peptides. Like substance P, neuropeptide K and neuropeptide gamma, it is generated by cleavage of the protachykinin 5 precursor. Neurokinin A localises to neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems, and is particularly abundant in the gastrointestinal tract. The biological actions of neurokinin A are similar to those of substance P, and include vasodilation and stimulation of smooth muscle contraction.

The antibody is stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody can also be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity.
