Introduction
Hu Antigen R (HuR), also known as ELAV-like protein 1, is a 36-kilodalton RNA-binding protein predominantly expressed in human endocrine tissues, the respiratory system, and the gastrointestinal tract. It plays a crucial role in post-transcriptional regulation by binding to AU-rich elements in the 3' untranslated regions of target mRNAs, thereby influencing their stability, translation, and subcellular localization. HuR is implicated in various physiological processes, including cellular proliferation, differentiation, and stress responses. Notably, aberrant expression of HuR has been associated with the pathogenesis and progression of several cancers, making it a potential therapeutic target.
