Adreorticotropic hormone (ACTH), also known as corticotropin (INN, BAN) (brand names Acortan, ACTH,Acthar, Acton, Cortigel, Trofocortina), is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by theanterior pituitary gland.ACTH stimulates secretion of glucocorticoid steroid hormones from adrenal cortex cells, especially in the zona fasciculata of the adrenal glands.ACTH influences steroid hormone secretion by both rapid short-term mechanisms that take place within minutes and slower long-term actions.
Storage
The antibody is stable for at least 1 year from the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody can also be aliquotted and stored at 4°C for 1 month or at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for many months without detectable loss activity. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
