Bim/Bod is a pro-apoptotic protein belonging to the BH3-only group of Bcl-2 family members, including Bad, Bid, Bik, Hrk and Noxa, which contain a BH3 domain but lack other conserved BH1 or BH2 domains. Bim induces apoptosis by binding to and antagonizing anti-apoptotic members of the Bcl-2 family. Interactions have been observed with Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, Mcl-1, Bcl-w, Bfl-1 and BHRF-1. Bim functions in regulating apoptosis associated with thymocyte negative selection and following growth factor withdrawal, during which Bim expression is elevated. Three major isoforms of Bim are generated by alternative splicing: BimEL, BimL and BimS.

This antibody binds to its immunogen, and did not show any cross reactivity with unrelated antigens in ELISA. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat Bim(GL) has not yet been tested.

Store at 4°C if intended for use within one month, otherwise, store at -20°C to -80°C. The lyophilized antibody is stable for at least 18 months after the date of receipt when stored at -20°C to -80°C. After reconstitution, it can be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C in a manual defrost freezer for at least 6 months without detectable loss of activity. Upon reconstitution, the antibody can also be stored for 1 month at 4°C. Please avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles, as this will lower the activity of the antibody.
