DHEAS 100% DHEA 13% Progesterone <0.01% Testosterone 0.02% DHEA is the most abundant hormone in the human body and a precursor of all the sex hormones. It is synthesised principally in the adrenal glands and gonads from cholesterol, through conversion to pregnenolone and 17α-Hydroxypregnenolone, by the action of P450 enzymes. DHEA is mainly found in serum as the sulfated form (DHEAS), a reversible reaction catalysed by sulfotransferase in the adrenal glands, liver and small intestine. |
