Description

Introduction

In mammals, histamine is metabolized by two major pathways: N(tau)-methylation via histamine N-methyltransferase and oxidative deamination via diamine oxidase. HNMT is the first enzyme which is found in the cytosol and uses S-adenosyl-L-methionine as the methyl donor. In the mammalian brain, the neurotransmitter activity of histamine is controlled by N(tau)-methylation as diamine oxidase is not found in the central nervous system. A common genetic polymorphism affects the activity levels of this gene product in red blood cells.

Confocal immunofluorescent analysis of HNMT Antibody (N-term)(Cat# 102-12484) with Hela cell followed by Alexa Fluor 488-conjugated goat anti-rabbit lgG (green).DAPI was used to stain the cell nuclear (blue).
Western blot analysis of HNMT Antibody (N-term) (Cat# 102-12484) in Hela cell line lysates (35ug/lane). HNMT(arrow) was detected using the purified polyclonal antibody.
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human hepatocarcinoma tissue reacted with HNMT antibody (N-term) (Cat# 102-12484), which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated.
