Monomeric human TNF-alpha is a non-glycosylated 157 amino acid protein which is secreted by secreted by macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, T-cells, and NK-cells. TNF-alpha often forms multimeric complexes with trimers being most common in solution. TNF-alpha can bind to surface receptors and cause an array of activities to take place including lysis of neighboring tumor cells and virus infected cells, increased fibroblast proliferation, and enhanced chemotaxis and phagocytosis in neutrophils.

Each lot of antibody has been tested by flow cytometry staining. Researchers are recommended to further titrate this antibody at the optimal concentration for each specific application.
