Description

Introduction

ERK2 is a member of the MAP kinase subfamily of Ser/Thr protein kinases. MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), act as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals, and are involved in a wide variety of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development. The activation of this kinase requires its phosphorylation by upstream kinases. Upon activation, this kinase translocates to the nucleus of the stimulated cells, where it phosphorylates nuclear targets.

Western blot analysis of anti-ERK2 C-term Pab (Cat# 102-17389) in UV-treated HL-60 cell lysate. ERK2 (arrow) was detected using purified Pab. Secondary HRP-anti-rabbit was used for signal visualization with chemiluminescence.
Formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded human breast carcinoma tissue reacted with ERK2 antibody (C-term) (Cat# 102-17389), which was peroxidase-conjugated to the secondary antibody, followed by DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of this antibody for immunohistochemistry; clinical relevance has not been evaluated.
