| Reconstitution | Supplied as lyophilized purified antibody. The antibody is stable for at least one year from the data of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody (recommended with H20 1 mg/ml) can also be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for months without detectable loss activity. Upon reconstitution, the antibody can be stored at 4°C for 1 month. If 1 ml of H20 is used, the antibody concentration will be 100 µg/ml. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles. |

General Description Omentin, also known as intelectin 1, is a calcium-dependent lectin with affinity for furanosides, such as galactofuranosyl in bacterial arabinogalactans. 30kD of apparent molecular weight of Omentin migrate at 40-kD under reducing conditions due to glycosylation . Omentin, a novel visceral fat depot-specific secretory protein, enhance insulin-stimulated glucose transport in subcutaneous as well as omental adipocytes and may therefore be implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity. Omentin is a visceral fat depot-specific secretory protein. Omentin mRNA is expressed predominantly in visceral adipose tissue and is barely detectable in subcutaneous fat depots in humans and rhesus monkeys. Omentin mRNA is expressed in stromal vascular cells, but not fat cells. Omentin does not affect basal but enhanced insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in human adipocytes.
Specificity
The rabbit anti-human Omentin antibody detects specifically target derived from human recombinant protein as well as cell lysates of HEK-293T cells transfected with omentin DNA at various concentrations. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat are expected from sequence similarity.
