Description
This product detects a band of approximately 75kDa in mouse lung and human tumour cell line K562 (protein degredation is as expected).
Specificity
This product specifically recognizes an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of tumour protein p63, otherwise known as tumour protein p73-like (p73L), a widely expressed nuclear protein and homologue of tumour suppressor p53, which acts as a sequence-specific DNA binding transcriptional activator/repressor.
p63, vital for the development of the prostate and selectively expressed by normal prostate basal cells, has been shown to be a promising complementary basal cell specific marker to High Molecular Weight-Cytokeratin (HMW-CK), for the differential diagnosis of benign prostatic lesions and prostatic carcinoma.
This product is reported as suitable for use in immunocytochemistry.

Antiserum to human p63 (CT) was raised by repeated immunisation of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide C-NFDMDARRNKQQRIKEEGE corresponding to amino acids 662-680 within the C-terminal region of p63.
