ClonalityPolyclonal
Immunogen
Immunogen was synthetic peptide derived from human Retinol-binding protein 4. This antibody was produced from a rabbit immunized with the immunogen. The IgG fraction was purified from rabbit serum by ammonium sulphate precipitation followed by Protein A/G affinity chromatography.
Immunogen Sequence
CMVGTFTDTEDPAKFKMKY
Recommended ApplicationsELISA (recommended work dilution= 1:10, 000-20, 000 (at least detecting 2-5 ng/ml)), Western Blotting (recommended work dilution= 1:1000-5000(at least)), Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA)
Reconstitution
Supplied as lyophilized purified antibody. The antibody is stable for at least one year from the data of receipt when stored at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted antibody (recommended with H20 1 mg/ml) can also be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C to -70°C in a manual defrost freezer for months without detectable loss activity. Upon reconstitution, the antibody can be stored at 4°C for 1 month. If 1 ml of water is used, the antibody concentration will be 100 µg/ml, 200 µg/ml, or 500 µg/ml, depending on the size purchased. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Description

Description

Retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a small transport protein (~ 23 kDa) and belongs to the lipocalin family with diverse functions. It is the specific carrier protein for retinol (vitamin A alcohol) in the serum. It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues. In human plasma, the RBPretinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli. A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein posttranslationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells. Recently, RBP4 was known to be one of adipokine secreted by adipocytes and relate to insulin resistance in the AG4KO mouse model. RBP4 may contribute to pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. Yang et al. demonstrated that serum RBP4 levels are elevated in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Specificity

The rabbit anti-human Retinol-binding protein 4 detects specifically target derived from recombinant protein as well as cellular proteins at various concentrations. Cross reactivity with mouse and rat are expected from sequence similarity.

Storage

Store at -20°C, if not intended for use within a month, Keep it at 4°C and minimize freezing and thawing when use.
