Introduction

The Measles Virus Real-time RT-PCR Detection Kit is based on the PCR method which uses a fluorescent probe and a specific primer to detect a specific region within the Measles Virus gene. This kit aids in the detection of viral RNA from Measles Virus, the causative agent of Measles, also known as Rubeola. The kit includes 2 primer-probe sets corresponding to those used in the CDC Real-Time Measles RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel (protocol version 01/26/2015). The primer-probe set for MeV detects Measles Virus specifically, with no expected false positives from other viruses or human microflora. The kit also includes a primer-probe set specific to the human housekeeping gene, ribonuclease P (RNase P), serving as an internal reference to monitor sample collection, RNA extraction, and amplification.

Storage/Stability

The kit can be stored at -20°C for a period of 12 months prior to opening. After opening, the reagents are valid for at least 6 months if stored at -20°C. Up to 3 freeze-thaw cycles are permitted while retaining activity.
