Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is a highly conserved amino-acid-long peptide hormone among mammals and mainly secreted from the intestinal L-cells and the CNS. Functionally, GLP-1 plays an important role in energy homeostasis and nutrient absorption. The initial product GLP-1 (1–37) is susceptible to amidation and proteolytic cleavage, which gives rise to the two truncated or equipotent biologically active forms, GLP-1 (7–36) and GLP-1 (7–37) amide. Then, the active forms of GLP-1 are extremely susceptible to the catalytic activity of the proteolytic enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), resulting in the abundant inactivated GLP-1 (9–36) or GLP-1 (9–37) amide constituting 60–80% of total GLP-1 in circulation. This kit could specifically measure the active (7-36 and 7-37 amide) GLP-1, while not the original (1-37 amide) and inactive (9-36 and 9-37 amide) forms of GLP-1.
The RayBio® active GLP-1 Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) Kit (EIA-AGLP1) is a competitive enzyme immunoassay developed for rapid detection and quantitation of active GLP-1 in serum and plasma samples collected from various species including humans, porcine, feline, canine, rabbit, equine and sheep, but not rats or mice. The quantity of active GLP-1 is determined by a known standard GLP-1 curve. The active GLP-1 kit has a high sensitivity of approximately 0.071 ng/ml. The performance was also verified to exhibit good characteristics in terms of linearity, stability, precision, and spiking & recovery. Each kit provides sufficient reagents to perform up to 96 assays, including standard curve and unknown samples.
The entire kit may be stored at -20°C to -80°C for up to 1 year from the date of shipment. For extended storage, it is recommended to store it at -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
