Discovery Proteomics Services

Efficiently identify key proteins of interest and post-translational modifications (PTMs) when you maximize your protein expression discovery efforts with RayBiotech’s Discovery Proteomics Services.

We use our semi-quantitative, high-density arrays for this service, and work with you to determine whether our label-based or sandwich-based technologies will best achieve your project goals.

Regardless of which technology you choose, we’ll maximize the number of proteins that are simultaneously assessed. We can use any of our antibody array products to quickly screen for biomarkers, PTMs, and other targets across 8000 human, 2808 mouse, 1500 rat, 50 porcine, 30 bovine, or 500 rabbit proteins, or we can create a custom array to meet your project needs.

Why L-Series?

The broadest antibody-based screen available, from a fraction of the sample other high-plex platforms need.

8,000

Human proteins in a single screen

20 µL

Of serum or plasma, vs. 40 µL for PEA and 130 µL for aptamer arrays

300+

Peer-reviewed publications using L-Series arrays

4 species

Human, mouse, rat and rabbit, plus custom arrays

When to Choose Our Discovery Proteomics Services

We recommend choosing this service when you want to screen up to 8,000 proteins, have limited sample (as little as 20 µL), or are running an exploratory study of biomarkers, pathways or PTMs, and semi-quantitative results are sufficient.

If you need absolute concentrations (pg/mL) with ELISA-grade accuracy, you may prefer our Quantitative Proteomics Services. Compare both services →

Why You Should Choose Our Discovery Proteomics Services

For Our Patented Array Technologies and Proven Workflows

This service is delivered using off-the-shelf or custom RayBiotech Label-Based Arrays (L-Series) or Glass Slide Antibody Arrays (G-Series).

Label-Based Arrays maximize the number of targets and PTMs like acetylation, palmitoylation, nitrosylation, oxidation, glycosylation, or phosphorylation you can assess. This approach relies on direct labeling of sample proteins with biotin, enabling detection through binding with labeled streptavidin and avoiding the need to develop validated antibody pairs. Frequently Asked Questions

Most of our arrays are compatible with any biological fluid. This includes cell culture media, cell lysates, tissue lysates, and all clarified body fluids (serum, plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, BAL, saliva, tears, etc.)

Our label-based arrays (L-Series) are validated for serum, plasma, cell culture media and cell/tissue lysates; other body fluids can be evaluated in consultation with a specialist. Our phosphorylation arrays, which detect membrane-bound receptors, are only validated for use with cell and tissue lysates.

In general, any cell-free extract that contains soluble, non-denatured proteins is likely to work with our arrays.

Quantitative Proteomics has a 5-sample minimum and Discovery Proteomics has a 4-sample minimum. Talk to a specialist if your study is smaller and we’ll help you find the best option.

Standard turnaround for our proteomic services is 6–8 weeks from receipt of samples.

A complete data package: raw data (spot-to-spot OD), background subtraction, normalization steps, and standard curves where applicable. These bioinformatics-ready outputs are delivered in both Excel and PDF formats, and every report is analyzed by a PhD scientist.

On our L-Series platform we can profile acetylation, glycosylation, palmitoylation, nitrosylation, oxidation, citrullination, lactylation, SUMOylation and phosphorylation. A specialist can help you choose the right PTM panel for your targets.

Yes. This is one of the biggest advantages of working with a single partner: cast a wide net on the Discovery platform, then move your top candidates onto Quantibody for absolute, ELISA-grade quantification, without onboarding a new vendor or reformatting your samples.

Yes. Beyond off-the-shelf panels, we build custom arrays from our validated antibody-pair catalog to match your target list and study design.

Our main laboratory is a high-complexity CLIA lab accredited to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 17025:2017 and operates under cGMP, with GLP-compliant, in-house-validated protocols.

The positive control spots are standardized amounts of biotinylated IgG. They are used for signal normalization, monitoring of the detection step, and to help orient the array image.

The negative control spots are printed with buffer only, and are not expected to give signals. Negative control spots are used for background subtraction.

The areas on the array map labeled as “blank” are empty (there is nothing printed there). Both the negative control and blank spots should give similar intensity values. Either one may be used to represent the background.
